Successful operation of Alta's green monopropellant thruster demonstrator

Operating with environmentally friendly hydrogen peroxide, Alta's 5 N "green" monopropellant thruster demonstrator for advanced catalytic bed development recently cumulated 42 minutes of firing time and a total impulse of 12500 Ns.

Successful endurance tests have been carried out by Alta's Chemical Propulsion Team on a series of hydrogen peroxide decomposition beds developed in-house. The engine catalyst LR-III-106  (shown on the left in the picture above) showed excellent performance, decomposing a total of 10 kg of H2O2 at 90% concentration with temperature efficiency in excess of 95% and characteristic velocity efficiencies approaching 100%.
